The Church is Unique
The Church gives us the saints, for example, there is a guy who could tell you what you did wrong before you even opened your mouth and who literally felt the pain of Christ’s crucifixion, and he was often in two places at once; and no, not via FaceTime!
We also have the best smelling anointing oil (Chrism Oil) and once you smell it on your baby at their Christening you’re going to wish it was for sale commercially.
Are you a Marvel Comics fan? Did you know that Thanos quite possibly took inspiration from a relic of Saint Teresa of Jesus to bling out his Infinity Gauntlet! And whatever opinion you may have on this subject you have to admit, they both have style.
The Supremacy of Christ’s Church
More than any of this we have Christ himself, truly present, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in every Catholic church throughout the world. “Lord… You have the words of eternal life.” where else would I want to be?
When Peter made his statement of faith “Lord, to whom can we go?” he emphasized the foolishness of the option. You can hear the incredulity in his spoken thought. Here stood Jesus, the Christ, Son of the Living God; is there any possibility of going elsewhere?
Peter found the walking away of the disciples over this “harsh” teaching to be folly. Anything other than the fullness of Christ is privation.
The Church Christ gave us still exists today and has never changed! While not everything that Christ taught is easy or even well-liked by many, it is Truth, beauty, and fullness.
“Did I not choose you…?”
John 6:70
To know that Jesus chose me to be born into the Church He gave us, and in a country where I have the freedom to practice my faith, and in a family that lived the faith, is astounding; it is almost inconceivable to realize that He loved me that much.
The Church is Home
I am a part of something so much bigger than me, I know without a doubt that I am loved and cherished more than my wildest dreams could have conceived, and no matter what this world dishes out I am never alone. This is Catholicism. This is the faith I was Graced to be born into and which I will never leave.
I am charged up about the faith and the Church that Jesus left us and if you want to learn more about it and get charged up too, come back again because there’s so much more to share.
