Out & About on Saturday 10-23-21
First I saw a Saint!!, well not a Saint yet but hopefully like all of us he is a Saint in the making, Family came in from Va and we took the children to the Columbus Zoo for “Boo at the Zoo” It was nice everything was decorated people were walking around in costumes employees was handing out candy to the children the weather was warm and sunny with a slight cool breeze every once in a while all was nice and it got better as we walked toward the exit I looked over at a little boy and said out loud to my family “Oh look Friar Tuck” then I saw the Rosary hanging from his waist and I said “No” then I saw a medal hanging from his neck, my sister in law and I walked over to him and his dad who was standing in line waiting for their turn to get some candy and we seen that his costume was not Friar Tuck he was dressed as St, Anthony Yes, of course, this prompted a conversation I showed my Miraculous Medal, my sister in law had on a St Joseph t-shirt It was so nice to see someone not afraid to show their Faith, not just a monk costume but St, Anthony and to have a Rosary again so nice to see and wonderful way to wrap up the zoo But our day wasn’t over and my out and about was about to get another thing to talk about.
Later that evening we took the children to a Halloween party at the YMCA where there were game’s, activities a haunted house, and an opportunity to hopefully help someone make the decision to go back to Church, As I was standing in one of the lines the lady behind me commented on my T-Shirt she noticed the Blessed Virgin Mother on my sleeve she told me that she was not Catholic but growing up her parents had sent her to Catholic school she like the singing, etc. Thank goodness she had nothing bad to say about going to a Catholic school but she told me that she had not been to Church in a while and wouldn’t mind going back but felt like when she walked in all eyes was on her judging her, My 1st reaction was to of course tell her to go to a Catholic Church I am Catholic I will always promote Catholicism If I didn’t could be accused of loving my Faith? but I did say that if she didn’t go to a Catholic Church go to Church because a good non-Catholic was certainly better than a bad or lukewarm Catholic!
So go to Church and don’t let the devil make her feel as if people were looking at her through judgemental eyes and possibly they aren’t I suggested that maybe they were just looking at the new beautiful face that they had never seen before but either way she wasn’t there for them she was there for Jesus. She told me that it was a much-needed thing to hear and that she did intend to attend Church the next day I Pray she did and I pray that she continues I pray that she gets the tug at her heart to go to Mass and one day is a convert to the Faith all of this I will never know but will always hope for but what I do know for sure is that If I hadn’t been wearing my Blessed Virgin Mother t-shirt that evening she would not have commented and we would have never had a conversation about Religion So get your t-shirts, get your Miraculous Medal, Crucifix’s and Brown Scapulars wear them proudly and hope they give you the chance to tell someone to go to Church, to go to a Catholic Church of course but any Church always be on display.
Pax God Bless
