Getting this blog up and running reminded me of the classic Looney Toons cartoon The Abominable Snow Rabbit.
Ann and I have worked so hard on TNT Catholic and now that it has launched I feel a little like Hugo… “What a cute little website. I will name it, and work on, and edit it, and re-edit it.”
We may have been a little over-excited and just like Hugo when he learned Daffy was not a “cute little pink bunny rabbit.”, we are finding out that there is more to blogging than meets the eye. Who would’ve thought?
Ya gotta hang in there
It all seemed so easy at first… just buy your domain name and get a hosting platform.
To set up a simple blog you have to learn about hosting, building your site, email servers, permalinks & slugs, keyphrases, and the list goes on. It is enough to make a budding author want to scream!
After much trial and error, I finished the site, and then it was Ann’s turn to add her personal touches and we now have our site published and the real work begins. Blog content.
We are learning about getting our posts just right so people will want to read them and not bury their heads in the snow! But we must stay true to the teachings of The Church, so we ask for a little patience as we research topics we want to talk about.
But by God’s grace, it is all coming together nicely and in the end, it will be worth all the work if we make an impact on even one person.
To get inspiration maybe we will take a nice trip to Palm Springs and just like Bugs, I’ll confidently lead Ann to the Hi-may-lay-us mountains instead. But on the bright side, I’m sure we’ll find something to laugh about along the way and maybe even get some content for our Out and About page.
Fond memories
This classic cartoon never fails to get a laugh out of me because of fond memories with my dad who thought this and so many of the Looney Toons cartoons were hysterical. And so does my friend Ann which is another reason why we get along so well.
The way the Daffy is able at first to keep his cool and then just screams in frustration and pain always cracks me up. Maybe it’s because it hits close to home; I can keep my cool only so long… sometimes you just need to vent.
Daffy Duck:
I’m not a bunny rabit…
Hugo the Abominable Snowman:
… and pat him and pet him…
Daffy Duck:
You’re hurting me. Put me down, please.
Hugo the Abominable Snowman:
…and rub him and caress him and…
Daffy Duck:
I AIN’T NO BUNNY RABBIT!

Thanks to Chuck Jones and all of the other creative talent that made the classic Looney Toons and for all of the wonderful memories and laughter; my childhood wouldn’t have been the same without them all.
